Home Office Painting Services
We provide a complete painting service for home offices across Altrincham, Sale, Hale, Bowdon, and Timperley.
Productivity-Focused Colour
Colour choice in a home office matters more than most rooms. You spend significant time there, and tone affects concentration and mood.
Cooler mid-tones work well: soft greens, muted blues, and warm greys. Heritage ranges suit period study rooms in Hale and Bowdon. We advise on colour at the site visit, based on natural light and orientation.
As part of our broader interior painting work, home office colour is one of the most considered choices we help clients make.
Feature Wall and Desk Background
Many home office clients want a feature wall behind the desk. A well-chosen background makes video calls look more professional.
Feature walls are painted in contrasting or accent colours. Deeper tones behind the desk reduce visual fatigue from screen reflections. For a wallpapered feature wall, see our wallpapering page. For painted feature walls across all room types, see our feature wall painting page.
Built-in Shelving and Alcoves
Period study rooms in Bowdon and Hale often have deep alcoves shelved for storage. These need careful preparation and neat cutting-in at every shelf edge.
A contrast colour inside the alcoves with shelves in a complementary tone is a popular finish. This is brushwork-only territory — it takes longer, but the result is precise.
Low-VOC Paints for Occupied Rooms
Home offices are used immediately after work is complete. Low-VOC products are used as standard in these spaces, with full drying times between coats observed.
We ventilate during work and advise on how long to keep windows open afterwards. This applies to bedroom painting and other lived-in rooms too.

Every project starts with a site visit so we can assess the scope, advise on colour, and give a fixed written quote.

How We Work
1. Site Visit and Colour Consultation
Your decorator assesses the room, discusses colour and finish options, and plans the preparation stage. All built-in shelving, alcoves, and desk surrounds in scope are noted.
2. Preparation
All surfaces are filled, sanded, and primed correctly. Built-in joinery gets a suitable primer for the paint system. Alcove interiors are cleaned and prepared individually.
3. Paint Application
Ceiling first, then walls, then any feature wall, then shelving and alcoves, then woodwork. Low-VOC products are used throughout. Each coat gets full drying time.
4. Alcove and Shelving Detail
Alcove interiors are painted by brush in sequence: back wall, side walls, then each shelf from top to bottom. We do not rush this stage.
5. Final Check
All surfaces, cut-in lines, and shelf edges are inspected before leaving. The room should be clean, odour-minimal, and ready for use.
Home Office Painting Costs in Altrincham
Prices below are estimates only. Every room is different. Call 0161 570 0342 for a precise quote.

Converted Spare Bedroom
A 1930s semi in Sale or Timperley converted to a home office typically costs £350 to £550 for walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
Room size, number of coats, and paint range chosen are the main variables at this level.
Dedicated Study with Alcoves
An Edwardian semi in Hale or Altrincham with shelved alcoves typically costs £500 to £750, including shelving and alcove painting.
Painting shelved alcoves is time-intensive — each shelf and surrounding walls needs individual attention.
Period Study Room
A study in Bowdon or Didsbury with built-in joinery and high ceilings typically costs £650 to £950 depending on scope.
Heritage and low-VOC paint ranges cost more per litre, and deep feature-wall colours need tinted primer base and more coats.
